How to recipes for gallbladder diet? + Foods that do not irritate the gallbladder

Cases that require a gallbladder diet include in particular diseases such as gallbladder stones or gallbladder inflammation. Even after gallbladder surgery, certain principles must be followed, including certain dietary restrictions.

Diet and the gallbladder

In gallbladder diseases, an inappropriate diet causes some difficulties. This is especially the case with fatty, heavy or fried foods. Sugar-rich foods are no exception.

Why is this so?

Such a diet requires a larger amount of bile, which is needed for proper digestion and absorption of fats. When the gallbladder does not function as it should, bile drainage causes severe pain, vomiting or other digestive problems.

A typical example is a gallbladder stone in the bile ducts.

The basis of the gallbladder diet is the restriction of fats and sugars. In order to make your diet sufficiently varied, but at the same time gentle and nutritious, you need to adopt certain principles.

Example of a gallbladder diet

At first you may find such a diet difficult or not very tasty. However, with time you will easily learn the rules for choosing foods, preparing and cooking them.

An important part of the gallbladder diet is not only choosing the right foods, but also preparing them appropriately.

Breakfast

Breakfast is an important part of the day. This is especially true for gallbladder sufferers. After the night, the accumulated bile needs to be expelled from the gallbladder so that it does not accumulate unnecessarily in the gallbladder and bile ducts.

This will prevent it from thickening, which is one of the factors in the formation of gallstones. So don't be hungry in the morning, have a suitable and easily digestible breakfast. Suitable foods are for example:

  • white bread
  • lids
  • low-fat butter or spread
  • low-fat processed cheese
  • fruit jams
  • white coffee
  • fruit or herbal tea with lemon

Morning snack

Don't forget your morning snack. Not only on a gallbladder diet, it's a good idea to eat more often and in small amounts. So take a moment to eat fruit, for example. This will let your body know that it doesn't have to worry about starving and storing fat. You'll appreciate this when you're losing weight too.

Lunch

Lunch, along with breakfast and dinner, is considered one of the three main meals. For many, this is a time to get together with family and eat together. Since it's not just gallbladder sufferers who should avoid stress, allow yourself plenty of time and comfort for a midday meal.

For example, the following is appropriate for lunch:

  • soup - flake, caraway, spinach, vegetable, croup, potato, tomato
  • lean meat
  • lean fish
  • pasta
  • rice
  • vegetables - carrots, parsley, celery, kohlrabi, tomatoes, potatoes

Afternoon snack

The afternoon snack is the meal between lunch and dinner. It has a similar meaning to the morning snack.

An example of a snack is:

  • low-fat yoghurt
  • kefir
  • roll
  • fruit - banana, apple, apricot, peach

Dinner

Dinner is the last meal of the day and should encourage relaxation after a day of work. It consists of only one course. Unlike breakfast, it is often cooked.

Suitable for:

  • baked pasta
  • Vegetables
  • baked fish
  • salad

Recipes suitable for fat-restricted diets

Such a diet is also called diet number 4. It is suitable not only for gallbladder sufferers, but also, for example, for patients with pancreatic disease. If you find such a diet not varied enough, come with us to expand your diet with healthy and tasty recipes.

Simple flake soup

  • vegetables to taste - carrots, parsley, kohlrabi
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • water or vegetable broth
  • a pinch of salt and ground black pepper

Clean and cut the vegetables into pieces. Fry the oats in a little olive oil, add the vegetables and sauté briefly. Pour in water or stock and season with salt and pepper. The soup is ready when the vegetables are soft.

Choose vegetables to suit your gallbladder diet. Be careful with vegetables that may bloat.

Also, use pepper carefully or avoid it altogether.

Creamy celery soup

  • 1 red onion
  • 2-3 medium-sized pieces of celery
  • a few pieces of celery stems, rosemary
  • a pinch of salt and pepper
  • water or vegetable broth
  • 1 lemon
  • parsley

Put the chopped red onion, chopped celery, celery stalks, fresh rosemary, a pinch of salt and ground pepper in the olive oil. Fry for a while and then pour in the vegetable stock or just water.

Add half of the chopped lemon, which gives the soup a pleasant and refreshing taste. Cook until the celery is soft. Blend the soup with an immersion blender and season with parsley leaves.

If desired, you can thicken the soup with grated potato. Avoid thickening with fat and flour, however. You can add a little milk to soften, depending on your tolerance. Cream is not suitable for any gallbladder diet, however.

Avocado oil is also suitable instead of olive oil. Avoid sunflower oil or lard, however.

Summer courgette soup

  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic
  • 1 large courgette
  • 2-3 medium potatoes
  • olive oil
  • salt, pepper
  • water or broth

Fry some onion and garlic chopped finely in olive oil.

If you are on a strict gallbladder diet, omit the onion and garlic.

Cut the zucchini and potatoes into smaller cubes and fry gently. Add salt and a pinch of pepper and cover with water. Simmer until the potatoes are soft and blend with an immersion blender until smooth.

You can also add a little light processed cheese or semi-skimmed milk at the end to soften. However, do not do this if you are dairy intolerant.

Vegetable soup with pasta

  • Vegetable broth - can be bought ready-made in shops
  • 2-3 tablespoons tomato puree
  • vegetables according to your own taste and tolerance
  • tortellini - stuffed pasta
  • fresh basil, parsley, rosemary
  • sour cream
  • salt, pepper

Add the tomato puree to the vegetable stock and bring to the boil. Add the chopped vegetables. When the vegetables are almost soft, you can add the stuffed pasta.

When they float to the surface, the soup is almost ready. Just season with a few basil leaves, parsley and a little sour cream. You can add salt and a pinch of ground pepper.

If you are intolerant to milk, sour milk products are a suitable alternative. So don't be afraid to use sour cream in your dishes.

Baked trout with zucchini

  • trout
  • salt, pepper
  • medium-sized courgette
  • 1 dcl water
  • fresh parsley

Dry the trout thoroughly and make a couple of slits on each side. Salt the trout. Form the foil into a boat, place the trout in it and garnish with the sliced courgette. You can also add fresh parsley.

Cover with a little water and close the wrapper. Transfer to a baking tray and bake in the oven for about 35 minutes at 200 °C. You can serve with potatoes.

Salmon with roasted vegetables

  • Salmon - fillets
  • vegetables - Brussels sprouts, radish
  • salt, ground pepper
  • olive oil
  • a little low-fat butter or margarine

Salt and pepper the salmon fillets, fry them on each side in olive oil, baste them with the fat and cook until golden brown.

Cut the radishes and Brussels sprouts into smaller pieces and sprinkle with salt and ground pepper.

On a stricter gallbladder diet, prefer other vegetables such as carrots and potatoes.

Drizzle the vegetables with olive oil and toss lightly. Spread on a baking tray and roast until the vegetables are golden brown. You can keep turning them and put a few pieces of low-fat butter on top before finishing.

Baked chicken breast with lemon juice

  • chicken breast
  • 2-3 tablespoons avocado or olive oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice

Slice the breasts into 1 to 2 cm thick slices. Spread them on a frying pan or baking dish with oil. Pour fresh lemon juice over them and sear on each side to turn the meat white. Sear them again on both sides until golden brown.

Serve with potatoes or vegetable salad.

Turkey leg with herbs

  • turkey leg
  • salt, ground pepper
  • fresh herbs such as rosemary, thyme, basil, mint
  • small garlic
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • olive oil

Salt and pepper the meat. Finely chop the fresh herbs. Lay them on top of the meat and sprinkle with garlic. Drizzle with lemon juice, wrap and tie with kitchen thread.

Fry the meat on each side in olive oil. Add some onion, chopped lemon and water.

If you are on a strict diet, be careful with the onions and garlic. Use less and do not eat them after cooking.

Roast covered in the oven for about an hour and uncovered for about 15 minutes. It can be served with tarhoña pasta and can be accompanied by steamed vegetables.

Turkey in a sweet steam pot

  • turkey breast
  • salt, ground pepper
  • mirabelle or apricot marmalade
  • fruit - apple, nectarines, grapes
  • hazelnuts
  • cinnamon

Place the turkey breasts on the plate of the steamer and brush with the marmalade. Leave the meat in the steamer for about 40 minutes.

Cut the fruit into smaller pieces and place in the pan until it releases its own juices. You can top up with a little water. When the fruit is almost soft, add some chopped hazelnuts. Season with cinnamon and marmalade and cook for a few more minutes.

Serve with stewed meat and rice, covered with the broth from the meat.

Cooking in a steam cooker is considered one of the healthiest ways to cook food. You can also cook a whole chicken with vegetables in it, and in some cases rice at the same time. To achieve a crispy skin, transfer the meat from the steam cooker to the oven.

Minced meat in tomato sauce

  • minced meat - you can use any lean minced meat
  • 1-2 white bread rolls
  • low-fat milk
  • egg whites
  • salt, ground pepper, fresh basil
  • tomato paste
  • canned tomatoes, if desired

Mix the meat with the pieces of white bread that have been soaked in the low-fat milk. Add the egg white, salt and pepper and, if necessary, a little crushed garlic and basil. Mix well and add breadcrumbs as needed to make the meat into balls.

Place the balls on a baking tray with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven for about an hour.

Prepare the sauce with tomato puree and water. You can also add the canned tomatoes that you have cut into pieces. Season with salt, pepper and basil.

Dill sauce for gallbladder sufferers

  • beef
  • 1-2 tablespoons plain flour
  • 400 ml kefir
  • 200 ml low-fat milk
  • a pinch of sugar and salt for seasoning
  • fresh dill

Steam or boil the beef slices in water. Dry fry the flour. It must not burn. Take care not to brown the flour. Set aside the flour and pour in the kefir mixed with the low-fat milk.

Return the pot to the heat source and whisk the mixture with a whisk until smooth. Cook over low heat, about 20 minutes. Season with granulated sugar and salt. Add the freshly chopped dill.

Serve the sauce with the cooked meat and potatoes.

Stuffed baked zucchini

  • larger zucchini
  • mozzarella
  • steamed vegetables according to your own taste and tolerance
  • salt, pepper
  • herbs - for example thyme, rosemary or basil
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice

Cut the zucchini in half and hollow it out. Chop the zucchini flesh and mix it with the chopped mozzarella and steamed vegetables.

Again, however, avoid vegetables that cause bloating or are otherwise not to your liking.

Season with salt and herbs and mix the mixture. Lightly salt the courgette, drizzle with olive oil and fill with the mixture. Drizzle with lemon juice and place in a baking dish with baking paper. Bake at 150-200 °C for about 30 minutes.

Serve with potatoes or mashed potatoes.

You can replace the courgette with aubergine. You can experiment with herbs and vegetables. It depends on your taste. Of course, always stick to the rules of your diet.

Sweet buckwheat

Prepare the buckwheat in the same way as rice, or follow the instructions on the packaging. Add the fruit of your choice to the soft buckwheat and flavour with honey.

Oatmeal with fruit

You can make a similar dessert with oatmeal. Cover with boiling water, boil for a while and blend with an immersion blender until smooth with the fruit. For example, a combination of dried cranberries and banana is excellent.
