Puff pastry is also very popular for similar recipes. The advantage is that it is quick to prepare and also has an interesting flavour. However, it is one of the foods that contain dangerous trans fatty acids.
In this recipe, apples are the main and most important ingredient.
Apples are beneficial not only because of their minerals and vitamins, but also because of their mineral salts, organic fruit acids and fibre content. The substances contained in the apple protect the heart and blood vessels. They also regulate blood cholesterol levels and thus prevent the development of atherosclerosis.

Recipe for apple pie with custard and cottage cheese
Our recipe is relatively quick and simple. Without much effort, you can prepare a tasty apple pie that will complete the right home comfort.
You will need:
- 200 g whole wheat flour
- 150 g cane sugar
- 1 dcl olive oil
- 4 eggs
- 1 vanilla sugar
- 1 baking powder
- 1 custard + 1 tbsp cane sugar
- 500 ml milk
- 100 g butter
- 250 g soft low-fat cottage cheese
- 1 kg apples
- a pinch of ground cinnamon
- nuts, almond flakes or oat flakes
How to make it
Preheat the oven to about 180 °C. Prepare a baking tray with baking paper.
Beat the eggs to separate the yolks from the whites. Mix the yolks with the cane and vanilla sugar. Gradually add the oil and flour with the baking powder.
Finally, whisk the egg whites into stiff snow and fold it lightly into the batter. If the batter seems too stiff, you can add a little water.
Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking tray with baking paper and place in the oven for about 30 to 45 minutes. The dough should be slightly coloured and no dough should remain stuck to the tray when the skewer is inserted and removed.
Clean and grate the apples.
Place them evenly on the baked and cooled dough. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon. If the apples are too sour, add a little vanilla sugar.
Now prepare the custard.
Stir the contents of the bag together with the sugar and a little lukewarm milk. Bring the remaining milk to the boil. Pour the mixture into the boiling milk, stirring constantly. Simmer for a minute or so.
Stir the butter into the prepared pudding and add the soft curd once it has cooled. Spread the pudding, butter and curd mixture over the apple pastry.
Cottage cheese contains many beneficial substances, such as minerals and vitamins. Calcium is particularly important for bones, muscles and teeth.
You can sprinkle the top of the apple pie with chopped nuts, almond flakes or oats. Place the pie in the oven and leave to bake for about 10 minutes.
Nuts contain good quality fats, fibre, plenty of vitamin E, potassium and magnesium. Eating them regularly helps to lower bad cholesterol (LDL) and slightly raise good cholesterol (HDL).
Have a good taste!
