Treatment: how to remove fibroids (mold, laser, nitrogen and surgery)
If fibroids on the skin do not cause any problems and are not located in uncomfortable places, it is not necessary to start treatment. However, if the growth is aesthetically disturbing, it can be removed.
If, on the other hand, the fibroid itches, burns, changes in growth pattern or practically interferes with normal activities, then the fibroid is medically removed.
Neither fibroids nor any other skin growth should be removed alone in the home environment.
Methods of removing a skin fibroma
Excision: Surgical removal of the fibroid using a medical scalpel and subsequent suturing of the wound. The disadvantage is the subsequent care of the resulting skin scar.
Excision: Removal of a skin growth using a special sharp spoon. A very small scar is created.
Nitrogen freezing: Burning the fibroid with liquid nitrogen without creating a scar. This method is mostly used for warts and papillomas.
Laser: The fibroid is burned and removed using a laser device. This method does not produce a traditional scar. However, this procedure can be more costly.
Corticosteroid injection: the patient is given a corticosteroid injection which leads to the death and removal of the skin fibroma.
The appropriate treatment depends on the type and size of the fibroma, its exact location and character.
The method of treatment is evaluated and recommended by the physician.
An anaesthetic is not usually used to remove skin fibroids. However, if the patient experiences pain during removal, an anaesthetic cream or injection can be used to provide local anaesthesia to the treatment area.
It is important to be aware that after removal of a skin fibroma, its growth may return, even in the same location.
The health risks of fibroid removal are minimal, as it is a small and brief superficial procedure. Nevertheless, slight bleeding may occur during the procedure. Very rarely, bleeding may be more severe or infection may occur.
The risk of complications can be greatly reduced if the doctor is sufficiently informed about the medications, drugs and nutritional supplements the patient is taking. The medical instructions of the attending physician should be followed after the procedure.
