How is vulvovaginitis treated? Drugs, antibiotics, topical
In most cases of vaginosis and mycosis, topical pharmacological treatment with antifungals, antibiotics or antimicrobials in the form of creams, ointments and vaginal suppositories is used.
In some cases, broad-spectrum oral antibiotics are indicated.
Adherence to intimate hygiene, use of intimate soap to promote pH balance, wearing airy underwear and absence of sexual intercourse during treatment of the infection are important.
Part of the treatment is to strengthen the body's immunity by supplementing necessary vitamins and minerals.
In pregnant women, early diagnosis of vulvovaginitis and initiation of treatment is important to prevent the spread of infection and protect the fetus. During pregnancy, home treatment without professional diagnosis is risky.
When symptoms of vulvovaginitis appear, professional examination and treatment are necessary. Home treatment is not appropriate.
