How is phlegmon treated? Drugs, antibiotics, topical and surgical
The exact course of treatment depends on the localization and extent of the spread of infection in the body. Primarily, it is necessary to observe hygiene, washing the affected areas with special compresses and rinsing purulent deposits.
In most cases, the patient is prescribed mainly antibiotics administered intravenously. Their purpose is to eliminate and remove the bacteria from the body.
In addition to pharmacological antibiotic treatment, a solution is infused to maintain the balance of the body's internal environment.
At a more serious stage of the disease, surgical treatment is chosen. During this, the patient's necrotic damaged tissue is removed, the accumulated pus is removed and its subsequent drainage (outflow) is ensured.
In rare cases, untreated or extensive phlegmon may lead to amputation of the affected limb. Home self-treatment is therefore not appropriate. Specialist pharmacological treatment by a doctor is required.
Treatment is usually in the form of hospitalization and subsequent monitoring of the patient's condition.
