Your doctor will determine the type of treatment based on the examination

Complicated infection

  • With severe redness, swelling and itching, leading up to tears in the vaginal tissue.
  • In the occurrence of more than 4 yeast infections per year.
  • In pregnancy.
  • In uncontrolled diabetes and with a weak immune system.
  • If you have HIV.

For complicated infections, treatment is most often given:

  • In the form of creams, tablets, or suppositories for 14 days.
  • Two to three doses of fluconazole (Diflucan).
  • Taking fluconazole once a week for 6 weeks, or long-term use of topical antifungals.

With recurrent infections, the partner should also be examined to see if he or she is also suffering from a yeast infection and because of this, the recurrence of the infection in the woman occurs. When yeast infection is suspected, condom use is recommended.
