Treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases: medications and surgery
Treatment is chosen based on the disease. In some cases a conservative method is sufficient and in others an operating method.
Conservative treatment focuses on the difficulties that the disease causes. Different eye drops are used. Adult treatment of the underlying disease is important.
Nowadays, the turbidity of the vitreous can be combed with the help of a laser. Laser therapy of flies focuses on breaking them into small pieces. The term YAG laser is known - otherwise laser vitreolysis - breaks up and evaporates the clumps that form flying shadows.
One of the most common surgical methods for retinal and vitreous diseases is the pars plana vitrectomy PPV surgical technique. It has the task of improving visual function. PPV is used for vitreous hemorrhage or retinal detachment, but also after injuries.
Externally, the operation represents the classical method. The aim is to eliminate the origin of the difficulties, such as removing the anteroposterior tract of the vitreous to the retina. Subsequently, the gas filling is performed. The choice of method depends on several factors.
In a vitrectomy, the original vitreous is removed through a small surgical incision and replaced with a solution. The task is to maintain the shape of the eye. Over time, the solution is replaced by a new vitreous, which the eye forms.
Early detection of difficulties is important before treatment. In particular, people with other general illnesses should have an eye examination at least once a year.
Others should not forget about important preventive check-ups.
